I just finished a 6 day vacation that was a complete unplug from the grid. Ok, complete unplug is an exaggeration; I checked email once a day. But, considering my typical level of connectedness that’s quite a feat. No cellphone/blackberry either because I’m on Verizon (which is CDMA). But I did make sure to check on the Red Sox once a day as they closed strong down the stretch. Thus, sorry for all the dead air on this blog over the last week.
I went to Salzburg and Munich. The trip was oriented around going to Oktoberfest. What an amazing and massive festival. At any given time, 100,000 are seated at Oktoberfest, and another 50,000 are outside the tents wandering around the booths and rides. It’s really difficult to fathom that size until your up to your neck in a sea of people jumping from table top to table top yelling out traditional Bavarian songs until they’re hoarse.
I’m sure I’ll write about it more later once I recover from jet lag. Time to go and eat some veggies. After a week straight of sausages and beer, I’m so excited for broccoli.
So long Oktoberfest.

Any take-home beer recommendations?
Are you on the left, right or middle in the pic?
Welcome back.
Dude, I am just plain jealous!

@Corey The pic is from the Paulander tent, which was great. But, my favorite was the Augustiner Oktoberfest brew. In fact, anything from Augustiner is terrific. And, I’m the guy in the middle.
in that pic, you don’t look old enough to drink! (oh that’s right, 18 and younger is fine over there)
beer in Germany=16 years old
Looks like you can stand up. Not bad.
