I work in a building that contains one of many Verizon Wireless corporate offices. Typically, I’m irked by the Verizon floor because it stops on the elevator a lot (I’m on 14, and they’re on 11) and the employees are quite loud.
However, today I was really happy to ride with a group of Verizon employees on the elevator. As soon as a pack of employees got on the elevator, one of them pulled out his blackberry and started tinkering. Sparked by seeing a blackberry, the following conversation ensued:
Verizon employee #1: Y’know Verizon’s getting a camera blackberry for consumers.
Verizon employee #2: Really?
Verizon employee #1: Yea, it’s not going to be world-capable, but it will have a camera and it will be smaller than this one [referring to the 8830].
Verizon employee #2: Oh, so like the Curve.
Verizon employee #1: Yea, like the Curve. For consumers.
Verizon employee #2: Where’d you find that out?
Verizon employee #1: Asked around.
Verizon employee #2: Oh, yea, I never hear about these things… When’s it coming out?
Verizon employee #1: Couple of months.
… and then it goes on into mindless conversation.
I’m stoked. I’ve been jealous of Fred’s curve for awhile. This will be Verizon’s first Blackberry with a camera. I know cameras on phones are lame and low quality, but I’ve always wanted one to capture those quick, fleeting moments and sights that always seem to escape cumbersome cameras. I’ll be first in line for this curve-like device, plus my “New Every Two” deal is activated in a couple weeks :) EVDO plus a Curve is a killer one-two punch.
Sweet. A VZW Curve is just what I’ve been waiting for. The rumors have been swirling for a while about it. We need them to get the ball rolling and start selling those bad boys.

I heard today at a verizon store that they will be getting the pearl-like blackberry, not the curve. Could this have been what the people were talking about?
Ok…was just at the Verizon Wireless store this morning and they said that the Pearl is coming but they said nothing about the curve.
I work at verizon wireless. the manager at that store said they will be issuing the Pearl in Mid october. if your aiming for the curve, your best bet is the world edition of blackberry 8830 for vzw.

I have been a loyal Vz consumer forever. If they only come out with the Pearl and don’t come out with the Curve by year’s end, I’m leaving them and taking my whole company (20 employees) with me. Enough is enough!!!
I have been a loyal Verizon customer for several years as well. My company (10 employees) are all with Verizon, but I personally moved to Cingular when the Curve became available. If Verizon comes out with the Curve by year’s end, I’ll switch back. If they don’t, I’m moving all of my employees over to Cingular. I agree, enough is enough.
Agreed! Enough’s enough with Verizon’s lame phones and high prices.
So we recently moved our company to Cingular because of the Curve. Awesome equipment crappy service. Coming from VZW and going to Cingular is truly a step down. I am in the process of moving back to VZW and heard that they are coming our with the pearl Nov. 8th. Bad equipment selection is the reason that we left in the first place, the service is just to good though.
