PostCrypt Coffeehouse @ Columbia
Lisa and I attended the PostCrypt Coffeehouse at Columbia on Saturday night. It was a great night, and the venue itself was half the fun.
PostCrypt is held in the crypt (literally) in the basement of a church on Columbia campus. The lighting is candles in gothic chandeliers. The stage is an old box of wood that looks like it lived a long life at a loading dock. The granite walls glitter in the candlelight. The event is free (with tips encouraged). They make warm brownies and pop tarts for sale, along with a old fridge full of Sam Adams Winter Lager. Just my kind of treats. It’s incredibly spooky and intimate at the same time.
The best act was a duo called Heath Street. Classicly singer/songwriter with a gentle voice. You can hear their entire CD streaming.
If you’re ever looking for something to do on a Saturday night, I recommend dropping by PostCrypt.
