Web 2.0 Blog Carnival

Does anyone participate in or actively read any blog carnivals? I follow Buttonmashing’s Carnival of Gamers regularly and occasionally catch carnival of the mobilists, but that’s it. I’m surprised there isn’t a prominent, solid web services carnival. Am I simply missing it?
I would like to participate in a carnival for web 2.0. [...]

Distractions

This is a blatent repost of this boing boing post, but it’s too good to pass up. This was the eternal dilemma in college:

This is currently the background on my desktop.

Dogpile was the last search engine (technically it was a meta search engine) I used regularly before I started using Google exclusively.  At the time Dogpile was great.  I was already searching the same keywords on multiple search engines in order to find the highest quality pages, and Dogpile made it much simpler perform and [...]

How did MySpace develop such popularity with the 35+ crowd? What value are these old people deriving from MySpace? Do they have their top 8 work associates (or grandkids) on their front page?

Burrito in New York

I cannot find a half-decent burrito in New York. Chipotle is the upper-end of the burrito quality spectrum here, which is very disappointing. At first I thought that I just didn’t know where to look… that I had not done my burrito research.

The New York listings on the [...]

My post on whether or not Digg could be leveraged as a search engine was the target of the Digg. It’s not a particularly good post. It obviously made the front page [...]

Union Square Ventures Podcast

This recent podcast with Fred and Brad of Union Square Ventures (my employer) is a great summary of the ideas and principles that color the conversations we have around the office. This podcast is part of the BusinessWeek podcast series. It’s definitely worth your time.
This post is more than just pushing Fred and [...]

I visited BarCampNYC2 over the weekend (check out the Technorati Tags for others discussing the subject). I wasn’t a real active participant, and I was only there for a few hours, but it was a remarkable experience. Lots of collaboration, cooperation, discussion, debate, and other fun academic exercises with a geeky twist.
One session [...]

Buddha Machine

I recently purchased a Buddha Machine online. My apartment is right on Broadway, and I am looking for new ways to combat the street noise, so I thought this white-noise-machine/soundbox, would be an interesting idea. For a simple background explaination, check out this review.
The device plays 9 pre-programmed loops. Each loops lasts [...]
