TourFilter is a site for checking out upcoming music shows, which doesn’t sound particularly unique on the surface, but it makes incredible use of AJAX to mashup The Hype Machine.

When users on TourFilter see a band they are interested in, they can click a text link next to the band which says “mp3s.”  Clicking expands a DHTML box with a few links to full songs by the desired band.  The songs are aggregated by The Hype Machine, and you can play the songs on the page via the Del.icio.us Playtagger without navigating elsewhere.  Furthermore, the links are implemented using the Coral cache, so it’s not a bandwidth hog on the terrific Hype Machine project.  I am a big fan of every aspect of this implementation.   Finally, a simple, clean, and intuitive UI is icing on the cake.

Kudos to TourFilter.  Their traffic is meager right now, but I don’t expect that to last long. Rock on.
