A Great Day in Larchmont

I had a great day today for many reasons, some of which I will post about later, I promise. However, one I feel comfortable posting about now is my trip down memory lane. I am originally from New York (born at NYU Hospital, my parents were quite worried they were going to teach and experiment on me), and now I am returning to New York. I spent this past week in the city trying to get a job and an apartment. I drove down to NY from Boston (my current residence) last Sunday with Amy (my sister), and we just returned home today. As we were driving up the Hutch out of the city, we passed a sign for “Larchmont.”

We grew up in Larchmont until I was 6 and she was 3, so we reministed about our old house and the park at Larchmont Manor where we used to run around the gazabos along the water. We got so nostalgic that I ended up pulling off and following the “Larchmont” signs until I found the downtown area. From there I guessed my way back to our old house. We took lots of pictures, and nearly every sentence began with “Remember when…”. It was a lot of fun, as I tend to only remember the good memories (maybe I only had good times, and memory is not selective!).

Then we weaved our way through downtown Larchmont to Larchmont Manor and the coastal park we remembered so well. We made sure to run around the gazebo and climb the rocks just like the old days. It was a total time warp… nothing had changed… except maybe a fresh coat of paint on the benches. Again, we took lots of pictures, but Amy hasn’t taken them off her camera yet. I’ll post them as soon as she does.

What a great day!
